Social programs.

The social outreach programs are a priority for the Jewish community. More than 150 people can have hot meals in the soup kitchen of the community. 350 people receive food assistance from the community, it is only a small part of the needy. According to the statistics of Jewish community at least 2.5 thousand Jews of Zaporozhye are in need of food aid.

The Jewish community has repeatedly pointed out that the lack of food aid leads to irreparable tragedy, moreover, not only the elderly require that such kind of assistance. The Jewish Community of Zaporozhye constantly helpsthe disadvantaged families whose children attend school boarding.

Only a few times over the years of the Jewish revival the community was able to distribute the commodity assistance to the needy Jews. The absence of stable funding makes it impossible to help Jews obtain medicines. Despite the lack of ongoing funding for charitable projects, the community was able to realize some important social programs. The Demi Boots program was launched in which over 250 Jews got shoes. In this program children from needy families the elderly Jews participated.

The most important social program aimed at improving the health of Jewish children living in bad ecology area is the Summer Camps program. Each year, more than 45 children have the opportunity to have a rest at a summer camp by the sea. For most children this is the only way to a full summer holiday in the unique atmosphere of Jewish camp.

The Jewish community also helps its members in tragic momentsof death of relatives. All troubles and expenses to give the latest honor to the dead takes the Jewish community. For many Jews it is extremely important since they can be sure that it will take care of them that they will be buried by all the laws of Jewish tradition.
