Religion

The synagogue was, is and will be the heart of any Jewish community. Without the very foundation of the Jewish people - the Torah - a full Jewish life is hard to imagine. In recent years the Jewish community under the leadership of Rabbi Nohum Erentreihas done much for the revival of Jewish spiritual and religious life. Day and evening Kollel is operating. Besides everyday prayers three times a day yet many people gather on Saturdays and on Jewish holidays prayer halls are overcrowded.

Much attention is paid to the restoration of Jewish tradition. Now every Jew is free to observe the laws and customs of his or her people. Particular attention is paid to the customs associated with the cycle of life. The ceremony of circumcision (Brit Milah) is held regularly (last year saw 30 circumcisions).

A Jewish wedding with all the Jewish traditions often take place. After all a young Jewish family on a solid foundation of the Jewish traditions is the most important condition for a lasting and happy marriage.Particular attention is paid to the ceremony of Bar-Bat Mitzvah.

A ritual pool (Mikva) was built for Jewish women. The women of our city can now follow the rules of purity of the marital relationship. A community mikvah for men is to be built in the nearest future.

The community is trying to help the people who decided to follow and observe the laws of the Jewish way of life. Special classes are organized for them.
