Education
Without Jewish education the very existence of the Jewish people as a whole is unthinkable. Education is one of the main features of the Jewish community.
Given that the Jews of Zaporozhye for decades have been separated from their Jewish roots, a kindergarten for Jewish children with the elements of Jewish education was organized. It is very popular. Three existing groups can not take all the Jewish children.
The Jewish high school has 148 students. The school has its own building and a large fenced area. The school building was partially reconstructed. Highly qualified teaching staff make every effort to help students get a quality school education and general basic knowledge of Jewish tradition, history and culture.
But now the school is largely performing many functions of the future of the Jewish Center of Zaporozhye. In the school a soup kitchen is operating and various community programs, clubs, hobby groups are running.

There are cultural events not only for our students and their parents but also for all people of Zaporozhye. Together with the school is the pension for orphans and children from disadvantaged families. All this extra load significantly impede the normal operation and development of the Jewish school.
So, unfortunately, now the school can not give children the opportunity to deeply explore Jewish traditions and culture. The most active kids who want to get serious Jewish education are forced to leave the city and go to other cities.
Thus the community loses a lot of people who can become the future leaders and activists of Jewish life in Zaporozhye.
The system of Jewish education that exists today in Zaporozhye, of course, represents a significant success compared to the precarious situation which occurred several years ago. However, the educational structure of Zaporozhye does not correspond to the level needed for such a large and important Jewish community. The most urgent is to provide opportunities for interested and pre-school education with intensive study of Jewish traditions.
A reconstruction of the building of the Jewish school is to be finished. At present except for repair of the building a speedy construction of the gym and athletic fields renovation is needed.
The opening of the Jewish Center will help to unload the school and give a more broad way to the Jewish education in Zaporozhye.
