Community history
Makeevka (in 1920-1931 - Dmitrievsk) - A town of regional subordination in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. History of Makeevka begins with the founding in 1690 Cossacks Yasinovka (now an urban type, the subordinate Makeevka City Council). Somewhat later in its territory were established other Cossack settlements: Lower Krynka, dugouts, Makeevka, Scheglovka.
In 1777, on the spot Zimovniki Cossacks at the origins of the River Crooked Butt order of the governor of Azov was founded state settlement Dug (now village subordinate Makeevka City Council). In 1787 there was settlement Makeyev (later settlement Makeevka, since 1965, is included in the territory of the miner's district), mentioned in the beginning of the XIX century, as the property of the Ilovajskij landlords family. In 1815 it became the center of the newly created parish Makeevka. Near the plant in 1892 came the industrial community Dmitrievsk, which became the commercial and industrial and cultural center for the surrounding villages and settlements. By the 90’s of the XIX century, a mountainous region of Makeevka formed with a strong network of coal enterprises.
In 1931, due to the fact that in Ukraine there were several settlements of the same name, the Dmitrievsk city was renamed to Makeevka. The city is located in south-eastern part of Ukraine, 13 km from the regional center Donetsk. City geographically practically merged with Donetsk, in fact, is its satellite city, but has its own distinct character. Included in Donetsk agglomeration. Like most mining towns of Donbass it is a conglomerate of separate settlements, sometimes fused with each other.
