Rabbi of Lugansk Shalom Gopin

The chief rabbi of Lugansk and the Lugansk region Shalom Gopin was born in 1974 in Kfar-Chabad in the family of teachers.
He obtained his first education in yeshiva of Kfar-Chabad. In 1988 he accepted to the yeshiva of Rishon-le-Zion. In 1991 he entered the yeshiva of the Lyubavitch Rebe in New-York. He received the Diploma of Rabbi from the Israel rabbi Yeruslavski.
After studying rabbi Shalom Gopin became a schlich - the messenger of the Rebe. His first years as schlich was spent in Kazan', Russia. In 1999 Shalom Gopin moved to Lugansk, Ukraine and since then he work there and revives the Jewish culture and tradition.
Since 1999 a Jewish school and kindergarten were established, the school pension was created for the children from distant towns to learn in the Jewish school, different programs for youth and women were begun and charity projects for children and aged people were implemented. In large towns of the Lugansk region Jewish communities were established. Rabbi Gopin established friendly relations between different Jewish organisations of Lugansk and the region as well.
Rabbi Shalom Gopin is married to Chana Gopin and they have 6 children.
