The project manager of COMUS told this to ZAXID.NET , whose experts are preparing the project of reconstruction of the synagogue in the framework of the project Comus. Experts are developing design documents, which provides for the restoration of buildings and arrangement of cultural and museum functions. By the end of February a feasibility study should be prepared.
The restoration work requires about 1.3 million euro. Management Reserve, which includes a synagogue, is hoping to support the Council of Europe and the European Union in the implementation of the comprehensive investment project for the restoration and rehabilitation of the synagogue.
Meanwhile, local authorities and public organizations in the near future are to carry out urgent work on their own - to isolate the monument of architecture of the moisture coming from the outside. The synagogue, which built in the XVII century, one of Europe's largest fortifications, entered the list of the New York Foundation "100 cultural monuments of the world on the brink of destruction."
COMUS - a joint project of the Council of Europe and the European Commission "Urban strategy in historical cities, controlled by citizens" and is aimed at the development of innovative urban planning models, contributing to the solution of practical problems in historical cities.
