Recently a big Jewish holiday which lasted eight days passed. This holiday symbolizes freedom from oppression and slavery in which Jews were for almost 4 centuries. This holiday is the Passover – the manifestation of freedom and release from bondage.
The Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine conducts a special program of Passover every year. This program includes extensive assistance to Jewish communities in the organization of Seders, visits of Shluchim, providing kosher products for Passover - matzo, kosher grape juice and wine and printed materials - brochures about Pesach and brief and extended and complete Haggadahs so that Passover celebration in local communities continued the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Jewish people and was strengthened in the minds and hearts of the young. This contributes to the consolidation of all the Jews in Ukraine as a single entity in the regional centers where there are large communities with their own premises and arranged work of activists and synagogues and in local small communities where there are no rabbis.
This year's Passover program of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine helped to organize Seders for more than 20,000 Jews from 154 cities throughout Ukraine who took part in the celebration of the liberation of Jews from slavery in ancient times. Seders were also visited by Shluchim - the Rebbe's envoys from the United States and Israel, who came to Ukraine specifically to help Ukrainian Jews in the celebration of Pesach and show how Passover was celebrated for thousands of years of Jewish history to the present day as well as activists from different cities of Ukraine. The Seders were attended by Jews, who are indulged in the cultural roots of the their people, and those who recently discovered Judaism and only makes the first steps in understanding the Jewish history and culture.
