Yevhen Korniychuk took part in a memorial event dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the extermination of Jews by the Nazis

Пятница, 23. Сентябрь, 2022 - 3:10

On September 21, a commemorative ceremony was held at the Yad Vashem memorial complex. The memory of the Jews murdered by the German Nazis in Babyny Yar, Bohdanivka, Drobytskyi Yar and other regions of Ukraine was honoured.

As the Ambassador noted in his speech: "I am convinced that society should remember its own history in order to draw conclusions from the past and not to repeat mistakes in the future. The memory of the victims of Babyny Yar, the Holocaust and Holodomor (terror-famine) should serve as a warning that human intolerance and violence can lead, under certain circumstances, to irreversible, terrible tragedies".

Today, more than ever, we call on the international community to join forces to prevent any manifestation of anti-Semitism and intolerance on racial or national grounds, the consequences of which could be large-scale human tragedies.

Unfortunately, the war that Russia waged on Ukraine is the evidence that not all learn the lessons of history. We urge the whole world to unite in fight against evil, because same as the events of the mid 20th century show, the consequences can be terrible for the humanity itself.
