80 years ago, nearly three thousand people were killed in a single day – on April 6th, 1942, among them 1900 jews, 370 kids.
On 18 of May, same year, 25 Jewish families were shot.
During the period of occupation, similar massacres occurred all over the city: on the territory of the hospital, in the park near the prison, in old cellars near the railway station.
Due to war time restrictions it was impossible to held a grand ceremony as it happened every year. Usually descendants of those who found eternal peace in the mass graves of Pirogova Levada come here every year from different parts of the world.
Representatives of Piryatinsky and Grebenkovsky city councils laid flowers at the memorial sing.
“After the Holocaust, the world said, "Never again." But we can’t say it anymore cause, ‘Never again’ is happening right now in Ukraine. But we know for sure: we survived then ante we will survive now!” city council pronounced.
