Traditionaly September is the month of safety in the Ohr Menachem school of Nikolayev. In the beginning of the school year teachers remind the children of traffic rules and their importance and usage of electric and gas appliances. Poisonous mushrooms and plants were not left without attention. The organizers used visual aids for the students to memorize so much information and make the process fun.
The students of the second, third and fourth grades met with the representatives of the Oblenergo Nikolayev state enterprise (the state electric networks owner) who told them about the hazard of electricity. Children got brochures with reminders and colorful illustrations and the Safety Island school exhibition received colourful posters with the rules of safe usage of electricity.
The students of the first and second grades visited the puppet show about the traffic rules. The convincing actors told the children that traffic lights and road signs are very important to know and observe and the places to cross the road are crucial as well. Happy children were glad to examine and touch the puppets and decorations and take a picture with the actors.
The students of the fifth to eighth grades spent almost the whole day in the local Ministry of Emergency Situations department. There they were told how the special machines work, watched and discussed different educational films and listened to the propaganda team of young firefighters.
It seems that such a complex approach will facilitate the safety rules observance by the students of the Ohr Menachem school of Nikolayev.
The school administration is grateful to the chief specialist of the Office of Education and Science of the Nikolayev Regional Administration Ostrovskiy N., the Oblenergo Nikolayev state enterprise and the director of the Chaya Mushka Jewish kindergarten Zhigadlo S. for assistance in organizing the lections and visits.
