Community history
In 2001 in Dneprodzerzhinsk a Jewish community was founded.
The most urgent tasks of the Jewish community, both during its formation and at the moment are:
- becoming self-identified, involvement of people of different ages to the traditional Jewish way of life and spiritual values of the Jewish people;
- social assistance for pensioners living below the average standard of living;
- targeted support for the disabled and handicapped people;
- constant medical care for the chronically ill, urgent medical care in cases of surgical intervention;
- social support for the majority of employed members of the Jewish community, whose salaries are not matching the actual cost of living;
- creation of conditions for Jewish education and upbringing of children from Jewish families;
- assistance in obtaining further education in Israel, the CIS and other foreign establishments for graduates of Jewish schools and Jewish community members;
- cultural revival of the Jewish people through the organization of celebrations (city-wide festivals, concerts);
- giving holiday food packs, organization of hot meals at home for those in need of the Jewish population of the city.
The community is particularly proud of the inseparable connection between generations. The older generations (pensioners, members and children of war) and the poor are given not only material but also spiritual support. Medical care, food sets, daily delivery of hot meals at home, the organization of collective meetings, provision of basic needs - that's a part of the whole list of good deeds of the Jewish community and personally Rabbi Levi Stambler and rebetsin Dina Stambler.
A good tradition is for the Jewish community to hold town festivals, meetings and trips for children, adults and seniors. Every year an increasing number of charity events and programs that help people survive in a difficult economic situation are held.
