Community activities

Since independence Jewish life in Ukraine began to revive. In 1992-1993 the religious Jewish community and Sholom Aleychem educational cultural association began to work.Today more than 3,000 people in the city and the region (Fastow, Skvira, Vasilkov cherry, etc.) study and revive Jewish culture, history and traditions.

In 2001 after Rabbi Meir Holtzberg arrived to the city the members of the community fulfill the Mitzvah of Brit Milah.42 men went through this rite to feel real Jews. Five boys underwent circumcision on day 8 as it should be according to Jewish law.

Strong family is the core value for every Jew.The members of the community have the opportunity to hold wedding ceremony according to the Jewish law.To stand under Huppah means to seal the union before G‑d, spiritually ascend to a higher level.

In January 2004 the first Jewish wedding in the city took place.Ashi and Ora Gorodetsky decided to start a family under the laws of the Torah.This joyful event was preceded by a long preparation.Asha and Ora studied Torah and Jewish teachings, read spiritual literature.Spiritual leaders - Rabbi Meir Holtzberg and Rebbetzin Bracha introduced young people to the world of Judaism and the laws of family purity.
